"Photograph" a short film depicting repercussions of the war in Syria on Syrian children

"Photograph", a Syrian short film by Director al-Mouhannad Kalthoum, is to be screened on Thursday at al-Kindi Cinema in Damascus as part of the Professional Short Film competition of the 7th Festival for Youth Cinema and Short Films, which is to kick off on June 25, 2020 and last till June 29.

The film, the scenario of which was written by Bouthaina Na'eeseh, depicts the repercussions of the war in Syria on Syrian children. It tackles child labor and the difficult economic circumstances that lead children to leave schools and look for a job to support their families.

 The film also talks about the situation of children in the post-war era and about man's struggle to survive.

 The film stars Suleiman al-Ahmad, Ghaleb Shandoubeh, Jamal al-Ali, Safouh Mimas and Itab Abu Sa'da.

23 films are to compete in the 7th Festival for Youth Cinema and Short Films through which each filmmaker seeks presenting something different . The films are the production of the National Film Organization within its project to support youth cinema.

The jury of the competition consists of Director Basel al-Khatib as head of the jury as well as actress Kinda Hanna and Maestro Adnan Fathallah, Dean of the Higher Institute for Music in Syria, as members.
