US-backed SDF militia continues to besiege towns in Deir Ezzor countryside to curb anti-SDF demonstrations

The US-backed Kurdish militia called Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF)  continued on Saturday to besiege a number of villages in al-Shheil area, to the southeast of Deir Ezzor. They kidnapped several civilians and established checkpoints in a number of villages in a bid to curb demonstrations demanding the expulsion of these groups as well as the US occupation forces from these areas.

Local sources told SANA that the citizens in the towns of al-Tayyaneh, Zeiban and al-Hweij went ahead with their demonstrations protesting against SDF's aggressive practices and demanding the expulsion of the US occupation forces and SDF from their areas. A number of youths closed the main roads by rocks and tires, the sources said.

The sources pointed out that the SDF groups brought in reinforcements to the area, stormed al-Hweij and Zeiban towns, kidnapped several civilians and established more points to control anti-SDF demonstrations.

Clashes with light and medium weapons took place between unknown persons and members of SDF militia in Zeiban town, the sources added.

On Friday, US-backed SDF militia stormed al-Kassar camp near al-Shheil city in Deir Ezzor southeastern countryside. They kidnapped several civilians and enhanced their positions at the gates of Zeiban, al-Hweij and al-Shheil areas, imposing tight siege on the locals.
