Defense Minister participates in celebration of Russian Navy Day in Tartous

Tartous, (ST) - On the occasion of Russia’s Navy Day, leadership of the Russian forces operating in Syria held an official ceremony on the shore of Tartous city.

The Deputy Commander-in-Chief of the Army and the Armed ForcesGen. Ali Abdullah Ayoub attended the ceremony along with a number of Syrian and Russian military, officials, and public figures.

The ceremony was attended by the Syrian side, General Ali Abdullah Ayoub, Deputy Commander-in-Chief of the Army and the Armed Forces, the Minister of Defense, a number of senior officers of the General Command of the Army and Armed Forces, the Governors of Latakia and Tartous, and a number of official and popular figures and a large audience from Tartous Governorate.  The participations on the Russian side were a commander and senior officers of the Russian forces working in Syria and the Russian ambassador to Damascus.

Atlantic Rose, first locally modified ship by national expertise launched from Tartous Port

Tartous(ST) - The Atlantic Rose ship was launched from Tartous port on its first cruise after the national cadres working in the maritime transport sector were able to convert it from a damaged and inoperable ship to a large ship that transports livestock according to the best international specifications.

In a statement to SANA reporter, Director of TartousPort, Eng. Thaer Wannous said that the national technical and labor cadres succeed in converting the ship from a damaged reefer ship into a large ship to transport livestock within the basin of Tartous port through continued work that lasted for 14 months to become equipped according to the latest international standards and specifications for this type of ship.

 The Syrian Minister of Economy and Foreign Trade Dr. Samer Al-Khalil has put an end to the rumors about the collapse of the national economy.

“Our economy is still immune and strong despite the challenges it faces that are known to everyone, the last of which is the Corona pandemic that cut the goods supplies by closing the land, sea and air borders, thus causing a total stoppage of some sectors such as tourism, and a partial one in sectors such as industry and trade,” Dr. Samer Khalil said , during the Arab Writers Union’s Damascus branch’s first session titled ‘Syrian Economic Realities and Governmental Actions’ on July 15.

Syrian students win two bronze medals and two certificates of appreciation at the European International Physics Olympiad

 Students of the Syrian Scientific Olympiad won two bronze medals and two certificates of appreciation at the European International Physics Olympiad, which was organized (remotely) by the International Physics Federation for pre-university education on the 20th and 21st of this month.

In a statement to SANA today, the Excellence and Creativity Authority stated that the two bronze medals were scored by the students Omar Burhani from the third secondary grade from Al-Saada Private School in Damascus and by Muhammad Subhi Abu Radan from the second secondary grade from Al-Basel School for the Outstanding Students in Aleppo. The two certificates of appreciation were received by Bashir Al-Rifai from the third Secondary grade from Al-Saada Private School in Damascus and Abdullah Al-Hosni from the second secondary grade from Al-Andalus Private School in Damascus

It is noteworthy that Syrian students are participating  for the first time in this Olympiad, in which 57 countries from Europe and the rest of the world took part. The Olympiad included a new scientific pattern of tests that involves practical experiments developed in a computer modeling method by the Organizing Scientific Committee.

Ministry of Islamic Trusts: Suspending prayer (for funerals) in the mosques of Damascus and its countryside until further notice

On July 26, the Ministry of Islamic Trust announced the suspension of prayers "for funerals" in the mosques of Damascus and its countryside until further notice, in the context of precautionary measures to tackle the spread of the Coronavirus.

The Ministry stated that the dead person’s family members are only allow to do the ‘funeral prayer’ in the graveyard.

The Ministry called on the Directorates of Islamic Trusts in Damascus and Damascus Countryside to coordinate with the burial offices in the two governorates to ensure full compliance with the instructions in the interest of public safety.

On July 22, the Ministry  announced the suspension of the blessed Eid Al-Adha prayers in the Governorates of Damascus and Damascus Countryside , due to the spread of the Corona epidemic.

Damascus,(ST)- The Council of Ministers issued a communique today, stating that all public entities will be suspended from Friday, 7-31-2020, until Thursday, 6-8-2020, on the occasion of Eid Al-Adha.

Eight civilians martyred in a booby-trapped motorcycle blast in Ras al-Ayn city

Hasaka, (ST)-  Eight civilians, including women and children, were martyred and others were injured in a booby-trapped motorcycle blast in Ras al-Ayn city, where terrorist groups affiliated to Erdogan’s regime are positioned, in Hasaka northeastern countryside.

Local sources told SANA reporter in Hasaka that a motorcycle parked in a vegetables market went off on Sunday morning as eight civilians, including women and children, were martyred and others sustained wounds some of them were serious, in addition to causing material damage to the locals’ properties.
