Five European states condemn Israeli settlement plans

Berlin (ST): Five European states have denounced the Israeli occupation plans to construct thousands of new settlement blocks in the West Bank demanding the immediate halt of this plan.

Foreign Ministers of Germany, France, Britain, Italy and Spain issued a joint statement in which they affirmed that expanding settlements constitutes a flagrant violation of International law and increasingly threatens the possibility of establishing the independent Palestinian state and achieving a settlement between the Palestinians and the Israelis.

Earlier, the EU foreign relations commissioner Josep Borrell stressed that the plan of constructing thousands of settlement units in the West Bank violates UN relevant resolutions and undermines the possibility of establishing an independent Palestinian state, demanding an immediate halt of the Israeli plans , the demolition of the Palestinian houses and their seizure .
