The Path of Hope, charity market to support cancer patients in Homs

Homs (ST): The charity market “The Path of Hope”, which is organized by the Syrian Society for Cancer Control in Homs in cooperation with the Directorate of Social Affairs and Labor in the exhibition city in the Al-Waer neighborhood, and its proceeds go to support cancer patients, includes a wide variety of stationery, school supplies, food, detergents, catering and electrical materials and furniture.

The 1st national camp for creative students kicks off in Damascus countryside

Around 100 male and female creative students representing different governorates, who excelled academically in the basic education stage,  participate in the various activities of the 1st  National Camp for Creative Students, which is currently being held by the Revolutionary Youth Union in  Zabadani area in Damascus countryside.
 
 The five-day camp aims to enhance self-confidence, stimulate Initiative and creativity among youth, and direct their energies towards production and giving. It also aims to create creative youth who are able to change and influence society, as well as to make them aware of their rights and duties, according to the camp’s leader, Khaled Al-Khaled.

Hope in life

Investment of time and transforming it after retirement into fruitful days are the goals that brought together craftsman and women, who created the most beautiful art pieces with different techniques and materials and showed them in an art exhibition in the Arab Cultural Center in Abu Rummaneh.

Craftsman Fawaz Al-Shaarani makes form of wooden boxes and panels engraved with Arabic calligraphy. He said that he started with this work to invest his time after retirement and benefit from it in a fruitful and useful manner.

51-year-old woman defies her disability and produces distinguished handmade works

SWEIDA, (ST) -It has been more than 20 years since Samira Amer from the village of Al-Matuna in the northern countryside of Sweida purchased a manual knitting machine to continue her work to produce multiple pieces of shawls, pillow faces, children's hats, and others.

She defied Visual impairment in her left eye that she has had since her early childhood at the age of three years.

(Together to stay), an event that presented the talents of 70 children and young people with hemophilia

Damascus (ST): With the aim of supporting hemophilia patients and introducing the talents of children and youth among them, the Syrian Society for Hemophilia patients  held an event entitled “Together to Stay” in which about 70 children and young people participated.

The event, which was held at the Cultural Center in Mezzeh, included singing by the choir “Move Jasmine”, a group of traditional songs, an exhibition of painting and handicrafts entitled “Rainbow”, a solo performance of the zither, and a presentation of films introductory to the activities of the association.

The draft law approved by Syrian parliament on child rights aims at enhancing child protection, says Dr. Al-Qash

“ The draft law on Child Rights , which was approved by the Syrian People’s Assembly  [Parliament] on the 15th of last July, comes in response to the National Plan for Child Protection that was approved in 2005 . it  included in its programs the amendment and development of the appropriate legislations for child protection to achieve  the best objective conditions for child’s development” , according to  Head  of the Syrian Commission for Family  Affairs, Dr. Akram Al-Qash.

Russian delegation visits Maaloula city

Damascus, (ST) –A Russian delegation visited on Monday  the city of Maaloula in Damascus countryside and distributed food, health aid, school bags and  gifts to a group of children in the area at St. Elias Church and Al-Baraka Center for Youth Activities.

Director of  Labour and Social Affairs in Damascus countryside Husam Sawan declared that this initiative affirms the deep-rooted relationship between the Russian and Syrian peoples and the continuation of Russia's support to Syria in its war on terrorism and facing the difficult circumstances being imposed on it.
