A cycling track for people with special needs opened in Damascus

Damascus (ST): Marking the World Day for People with Special Needs and with the participation of a number of sports celebrities, the Syrian Special Olympiad Establishment opened a special cycling track for people with special needs in Burniah Street, Damascus.

The 1300 m track extends from Al-Fayha’a sports city swimming pool until Burniah Street. About 150 participants from people with special needs and outstanding sports personalities took part in the event which was followed by planting saplings on both sides of the track. 

A good start for the Syrian Basketball

The Head of the General Sports Federation, Firas Mualla, confirmed that the victory of the Syrian men's basketball team over its Iranian counterpart yesterday in the Asian qualifiers is a good start for Syrian basketball and an incentive for the players to give their best in their upcoming matches.

 "This victory was very important because the Iranian team is the strongest teams in Asia. Great efforts that were made to provide the national team with all their needs through the local and foreign training camps, a foreign coach for the team and supporting the team with a foreign player playing under the Syrian flag ", Mualla indicated during the team’s reception at the Syrian-Lebanese border in Jadidat Yabous, after returning from the United Arab Emirates.

Al Somah wins best Syrian professional footballer award for 2020

Syrian national football player, Omar Al-Somah, won the award for the best professional Syrian footballer for 2020 in its third course, which is organized by the Syrian Professional Players website.

The director of the Syrian professional players site, Laith Bayrakdar, revealed in a statement to SANA that Al Somah achieved twelve points that included several criteria.

Syrian men's basketball team beats its Iranian counterpart in the Asian tournaments

The Syrian men's basketball team beat Iran with a score of 77-70 points in the second step of the Asian Nations 2021 tournaments, in their match on November 30 at the Al-Gharafahall in the Qatari capital, Doha.

The Syrian men's basketball team lost to Qatar on November 29 by 72-79 points.

It is noteworthy that the Syrian men's basketball team defeated its Saudi counterpart by 75-70 points within the first step and lost against Iran by 48-94 points, in the fifth group.

Syrian National Football Team advances three positions in FIFA world ranking

 The Syrian National Football team "Nusour Qasiyoun" has advanced three positions in FIFA's monthly World Ranking.

The Syrian team is in the 76th position among other teams of the world.

The new advance comes after the team beat its Uzbek counterpart 1-0 in a friendly match last week in the UAE in preparation for resuming the qualifiers of the World Cup and the Asian Cup.

The team also maintained its 10th position at Asia's level and the 9th position at the Arab level.
