Syrian equestrian team qualifies to the finals of the Nations Cup

Syrian equestrian team ranked fifth in the Abu Dhabi International Championship and qualified to the finals of the Nations Cup, which will be held in Barcelona, Spain next October.

The names of the Syrian equestrian team (international five stars) were:

 Yasser Al-Sharif, Ahmed Hamsho, Amr Hamsho, Osama Al-Zbibi and the international coach Ragheb Ibrahim Pasha.

It is to be mentioned that each team participates with four equestrians to pass the match, and the referee calculate their faults and time to select the team rank.


Syrian team harvests 51 medals at West Asian Weightlifting Championship

Abu Dhabi - Syrian weightlifting team harvested 51 various medals (29 gold, 15 silvers and 7 bronzes) in 2020 West Asian Weightlifting Championship which was held in the UAE.

 150 athletes (male and female) from 15 states participated in the competition.

29 gold medals as follows:

 Nagham Rasha won 3 gold medals, Roub’a Suleiman won 6 gold medals, Mary Hassan won 6 gold medals, Ja’afar Mayya won three gold medals, and 3 gold medals were won by Tawfiq Fateh and Lubaba al-Shamali.

 Yahiya al-Ghafir and Mohammad Muthalaj won a gold medal each.

15 silver medals as follows:

 Yahiya al-Ghafir won 5 silver medals, Tawfiq Fateh won 6 silver medals, Mohammad Muthalaj won one silver medal and Mohammad al-Hayek won 3 silver medals men category.

7 bronze medals as follows:

Ja’afar Mayya won 3 bronze medals, Mohammad Muthalaj won one bronze medal and Majd Jughaili won three bronze medals.


Syrian Referee Obeid participates in Open Paris Karate

Syrian international referee Amjad Obaid participated in the Open Paris Karate Championship (World League), which was held in Paris, France.

The Syrian referee Obaid said that all matches in the tournament were strong with above standard and high performance players because the tournament came at the beginning of the high season and before the Olympic Games in Tokyo next June.

The tournament used new kata rules. Seven referees sit around the table. Each referee puts the evaluation points (70% technical performance, 30% sports performance). Then they take the average, Obaid added.

It is to be mentioned that the referee Amjad Obaid was born in 1976, holds a degree in economics from the University of Damascus, the international medal of arbitration and the Asian international medal in 2013. He is the 4th Syrian referee who holds the international medal. Besides, he holds the 4th Dan Black Belt and he participated as a referee in many international championships (Open American championship in Las Vegas, World Championship in Indonesia).


Al-Najjar achieves good results in Asian Weightlifting Championship

Syria’s Al Wathba Club player Muayyad Al Najjar won two bronze and silver medals in the Asian Youth and Junior Weightlifting Championship, which was held in Uzbekistan.

Al Najjar (above 109 kg) won a silver medal in (snatch) and the group’s bronze medal.

It is to be mentioned that Al-Najjar was born in 2000 and last year, he won 3 gold medals in the Arab weight-lifting Championship in Jordan in (youth and men category).


Syria’s men basketball beats KSA team In Asian Championship

The Syrian men's basketball team beat KSA team by 75-70 points in its second match within the first round of the qualifying rounds for the Asian Championship (Bangalore, India next year) which is currently held in Al-Jawhara Hall in Jeddah.

It is to be mentioned that Syria lost to Iran in the opening match (94-48 points).

Our team plays in the 5th group that also includes Iran and Qatar.

The first round is divided into six groups (4 teams in each group). Two teams from each group qualify directly to the Asian Championship.
